Get the whole family reading this summer ~ Rapid City Journal
The Rapid City Public Library’s Summer Reading Program is filled with incentives to get kids — and adults — reading this summer. The library is hosting game days, craft programs, music performances and story times, all designed to entertain, educate and get kids to pick up a book and discover the magic within.
This year’s theme is “One World, Many Stories.” The staff expects about 1,800 people of all ages to participate in the incentive-based reading program. For each day children read or are read to for 15 minutes, they can color in a globe on their reading log. After 25 days, children can bring their reading logs to the library for prizes.
They have the opportunity to get three prizes over the summer, and if they read for 75 days, they have a chance to win bigger prizes.
