by on March 22, 2012

Rapid City, SD – March 21, 2012 – As part of National Library Week, the Rapid City Public Libraries are excited to announce that singer/songwriter Jami Lynn will be holding a Songwriting Workshop for teens on Wednesday, April, 11 from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the downtown library.

Jami will start the program discussing some of the basics of songwriting. Those attending will have the opportunity to play and/or sing a song of their own and work on songs together.
The libraries invite teens 13-18 years of age to sign up in advance on the event calendar located on the libraries’ website, http://www.rapidcitylibrary.org. Pre-registration is preferred but walk-ins are also welcome.

South Dakota native Jami Lynn performs folk, acoustic, and bluegrass music. She is a member of the group Jami Lynn & the Aquila Band. Her latest album, “Sodbusters” is a collaboration piece with duo partner, Josh Rieck. It’s made up of 6 folk originals and 5 traditional folk songs, most of which are linked to South Dakota.

The theme for this year’s National Library Week is “Explore. Ask. Discover.” Other National Library Week events include a Discovery Day program, a Community Voices program, the 12th Annual Poet’s Coffeehouse and Poetry Competition, and a Writers Workshop and panel discussion.
