Sons of Norway to promote Literacy for Children at the Rapid City Public Libraries

The Rapid City Public Libraries and the Sons of Norway will host a special event on May 5, 2012 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Downtown Library in honor of Children’s Book Week.

The classic Norwegian fable “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” will set the theme for the program. The kids will have fun making troll based crafts, book marks and coloring pages and can get their face painted. There will also be a display of Norwegian crafts that the organizations members create such as rosemaling, woodcraft and hardanger. Norwegian dancers in costume will be there to demonstrate their cultural dances and invite the children to join in.
